Ingredients

Turkey Burger Patties
  • 1 lb Ground turkey Preferably 93% lean
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil For grilling
Burger Toppings
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese Optional
  • 4 buns Burger buns Whole grain or regular
  • 1 cup Lettuce Rinsed and dried
  • 1 tomato Tomato Sliced
  • 1/2 cup Pickles Sliced
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup Optional
  • 1/4 cup Mustard Optional

Method

Prepare the Patties
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Grill the Burgers
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  2. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  3. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  2. Layer lettuce, tomato, pickles, and the turkey patty on the bottom half of the bun. Add ketchup and mustard if desired, then top with the other half of the bun.
