Ingredients

For the Sweet Potatoes

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for roasting
  • 1 teaspoon salt essential for balancing sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper adds a subtle kick
For the Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika for warm, smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon cumin adds an earthy note
For Toppings (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro for freshness
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese for creamy contrast

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Cut them into uniform cubes, about 1-inch thick.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the cubed sweet potatoes and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes in a colander and let them sit for a few minutes to dry out slightly.
  4. Transfer the drained sweet potatoes to a mixing bowl and mash until smooth and creamy, adding butter or olive oil.
  5. Stir in your favorite seasonings—salt, pepper, cinnamon, or maple syrup. Taste and adjust as needed.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the mashed sweet potatoes into a greased baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
