Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Frosting
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the orange juice and orange zest.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar.
  2. Add the orange juice and zest, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  3. Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
