- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.

- Add the diced tomato, chopped red onion, minced garlic, lime juice, salt, cilantro (if using), and black pepper to the bowl.
- Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

For best flavor, use ripe avocados. Guacamole can be stored in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface to minimize browning.
