Ingredients

For the Pasta
  • 1 lb Pasta of choice like penne or rotini
  • 1 tbsp Salt for boiling pasta
For the Beef Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground beef or ground turkey for a lighter option
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves minced
For the Sauce
  • 1 can Canned diced tomatoes or fresh tomatoes when in season
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning add red pepper flakes for extra heat
  • 2 cups Cheese (mozzarella or cheddar) shredded
For the Topping
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese for sprinkling on top
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil or parsley chopped

Method

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add your favorite pasta. Cook until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Sauté the Beef
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil and brown 1 pound of ground beef. Cook until it's no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula—this should take about 5-7 minutes.
Add Aromatics
  1. Toss in minced garlic and diced onion to the beef. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
Mix the Sauce
  1. Stir in your favorite marinara sauce or diced tomatoes into the skillet. Let it simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Gently fold the cooked pasta into the beef and sauce mixture in the skillet. Mix until every piece is coated evenly with that delicious sauce—about 2 minutes should do!
Add Cheese
  1. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top of your pasta dish. Cover with a lid and let it cook on low for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melty and bubbly.
Garnish
  1. Optional: Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for a pop of color and freshness!
