Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decoration
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tablespoons milk for icing
  • food coloring various colors optional

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
Shape and Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Use a flower-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
Decorate
  1. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a smooth icing.
  2. Add food coloring to the icing as desired.
  3. Once cookies have cooled, decorate them with the icing.
