Onions
  • 4 medium yellow onions sliced
Butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter can substitute with olive oil
Salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar optional, enhances sweetness

Method
 

Cooking the Onions
  1. Heat the skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
  2. Once the butter is melted, add the sliced onions and stir to coat.
  3. Sprinkle salt and sugar (if using) over the onions.
  4. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.
  5. If the onions start to stick, add a splash of water to deglaze the pan.
  6. Remove from heat and serve or store for later use.
